-Performing intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) in the operating room during complex spine surgery as well as critical neurological, orthopedic, vascular, and ENT surgeries where different aspects of the nervous system are at risk.-Utilizing several basic and advanced modalities in order to detect iatrogenic neurological injury in the operating room, including SSEP, EMG, tceMEP, EEG, BAEP, lateral spread response (LSR), cortical/motor mapping, phase reversal, and dcMEP. -Highly experienced in consulting surgeons both before and during highly specialized procedures in order to achieve maximum corrective results without compromise to patient safety. These procedures include pediatric spinal fusion for scoliosis correction, cortical mapping during brain tumor resection, cranial nerve functional testing during microvascular decompression, and selecting abnormal nerve rootlets during dorsal rhizotomy for spasticity.-Responsible for training new and established colleagues in basic and advanced IONM procedures and modalities.-Presenting new and innovative surgical procedures, monitoring techniques, and research findings at our professional organization’s annual conference.-Developing and maintaining solid relationships based on trust and confidence with a multitude of surgeons, staff, and administration at hospitals and health care systems in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

-Using non-radioactive, radioactive, and fluorescence based molecular detection methodsin brain tissue following exposure to drugs and/or various behavioral paradigms.-Utilizing behavioral tests in rats in order to analyze changes in anxiety, drug self-administration, and social behavior due to genetic and/or hormonal manipulation and individual differences.-Planning experimental studies, follow through and troubleshooting protocols, interpretingdata collected from large groups of animals, and effectively presenting results in bothoral and written fashion for a variety of audiences.-Writing experimental proposals and applying for NIH federally-funded grants, as well as writing and submitting results from NIH-funded research to be included in published scientific journals.
