My major educational and professional focus has always been mathematics, starting in a high school engineering program. Tutoring became second nature in college, including calculus and college algebra. After college, I expanded to elementary and middle school subject matters. I enjoy explaining complex mathematical ideas in simpler terms tailored to the individual. Another passion I have is public speaking and non-traditional public speaking, i.e. leading small groups. I thrive on motivating and encouraging others. After being a student orientation leader, I sought out other ways to make an impact and was selected for the American Cancer Society Voice of Hope in 2012, specializing in public speaking. I have helped organize and facilitate Behçet's disease fundraisers that focus on awareness and donations. Also, my child care background has helped to relate to all age groups, adapting my message to the audience.Goals that I have include furthering my medical education, hopefully focusing on Behçet's disease, a rare vasculitis, or another autoimmune disease. I hope to utilize my mathematics background, to further my career into medical research.
