I completed various design tasks under the supervision of a professional engineer, while gradually taking on more responsibilities as I gain experience. Most of my work relates to civil infrastructure, wastewater collection systems, and environmental compliance. This experience includes site and drainage design, grading plans, hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, preparing construction plans and technical specifications, estimating construction costs, writing technical reports, submitting permit and grant applications, and completing peer reviews for regulatory compliance. I communicate regularly with the project team, other disciplines, clients, sub-consultants, and regulatory agencies as well as present our work at public meetings. As I gain experience, I have also been involved in more managerial tasks such as training interns, preparing work plans, and assisting in the development of fee estimates and proposals.

In my time at Jacobs, I primarily worked on Bridge Inspections which included completing the reports, IDOT forms, and creating exhibits using Bluebeam and Microstation. This work included coordinating with a supervisor that was not in the office most of the time, so communication was a large key to completing the work. I also had the opportunity to create 2D and 3D models in AutoCad, add a deck to a bridge model in MIDAS, and work on a load rating for a bridge.

I perform research for a Professor on campus, typically taking collected video data and creating narratives from it. In the past, I have worked on the project "Mathematics as a Gatekeeper to Engineering" under Dr. Monica Cardella and have had the opportunity to speak at a poster symposium and co-author a paper.

I was a civil intern for the Indianapolis office. I did a wide variety of things, from preparing submittals for delivery all the way to creating sets of construction documents using Autocad Civil 3d. I primarily updated plans based on mark-ups given to me by project managers.

I was primarily responsible for surveying the wastewater lines in town to check the elevations that were currently on record in the GIS data base. In addition, I performed Rule 5 inspections and various other tasks for the Head City Engineer and Stormwater Coordinator.
