As a master's student studying translation bioinformatics with a strong background in RT-PCR, RNAseq, and R programming, my personal goals are to further develop my skills in data analysis and data visualization. I aim to become proficient in utilizing advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to extract meaningful insights from complex biological data sets. Additionally, I aspire to explore novel methods of integrating data from different sources, such as genetic and proteomic data, to generate a more comprehensive understanding of biological systems. Through my studies, I hope to gain experience in experimental design, data management, and quality control to ensure robust and reproducible results. Ultimately, my goal is to use my expertise to contribute to the development of effective diagnostic and therapeutic strategies that improve patient outcomes in the field of precision medicine.In my role as a Research Associate at UTHealth Houston, I led genetic expression studies using the C. elegans model, where I was responsible for maintaining and isolating RNA from various C. elegans and bacterial strains. My expertise in analyzing RT-PCR and RNAseq data using R Studio allowed me to develop accurate and insightful conclusions from my research. Additionally, I developed pipelines for all types of data generated in the lab and coordinated with outside vendors and collaborators.As a Forensic Scientist with the Texas DPS crime lab, I performed testing and procedures to determine the DNA profile of forensic biological samples. I completed training in analytical DNA testing and forensic biology screening to handle evidentiary items to maintain the integrity of the evidence and the chain of custody. I also developed and implemented local validations of new liquid-handling robots in the DNA analytical process in collaboration with the technical leader. I ensured that I maintained standards set by ANAB and the Texas Forensic Science Commission to deliver accurate and reliable results.In my role as a Medical Scribe, I recorded physician-patient encounters into the electronic medical record to document visit details, adding orders as required by the provider. I gained hands-on experience using the electronic health record (EHR) system eClincalWorks which allows me to have personal knowledge of consumer interaction with EHRs.
