• Evaluate students and prepare psycho-educational reports utilizing a variety of standardized individual psychological diagnostic and predictive test instruments and procedures requiring professional and highly technical judgment.• Act as a liaison and coordinate information and data from the Probation Department, the Public Defender’s Office, the Department of Mental Health, and school districts of residence; provide accurate information leading to a recommendation for the IEP team.• Review student records, organize information, and determine appropriate assessment tools and methods.• Observe students; assess, evaluate, analyze, determine eligibility for special education services, and write psycho-educational reports.• Assess all aspects of students’ suspected disability, including, if appropriate, cognitive ability, fine and gross motor skills, social-emotional development, adaptive behavior, language development, and academic achievement.• Provide students, parents, and staff with alternative methods to remediate emotional and behavioral problems.• Counsel students, parents, and instructional and agency staff regarding student needs and strengths; assist parents and staff in understanding students’ needs, growth, development, and potential when requested.• Record searches using the telephone, the fax, and computer databases.
