Ashley Yancy is a senior currently enrolled in W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. She has always been motivated by connecting with people and solving intricate problems. Throughout her life, she has served as a trusted listener for her peers and enjoyed helping others resolve conflicts. Her interest and aptitude for solving interpersonal problems led to her choose Human Resources as her major. In addition, she approaches projects with a structured process and direction, leading her to choose Project Management as a minor. Her studies at ASU have helped develop skills that have always come naturally to her such as adaptability, communication, and strategic thinking. Ashley currently works as a sales associate at a local gym. Through connecting with, and relating to, gym prospects she has been able to sell many new memberships, resulting in her being named as one of the top sales associates for the past two months. Her open-minded attitude and listening skills have ensured that every gym member feels understood and helped with every problem they face. Through her communication skills, Ashley has proven herself to be a reliable and successful employee.In her previous role as a head lifeguard and swim instructor at a community center, Ashley wore several hats that helped her develop many different business skills. Her primary role as a lifeguard helped her build a strong foundation for organization and collaboration. When coaching the swim team, Ashley led the structuring of swim practices and scheduling. She also contributed to the creative process for improving the recruitment efforts for the swim club. Through her prior and current roles, Ashley concluded that a business’s success and her own personal fulfillment has always tied back to connecting with people and helping others. She looks forward to using her interpersonal skills in a corporate environment. In her jobs, Ashley always felt happiest when she was valued and heard. Ashley is looking for a role where she can make a positive impact on creating a safe, understanding, and diverse culture within an organization. Outside of working and academics, Ashley has a strong interest in art and movement. In her free time, she enjoys painting and drawing since it allows her to be creative and think "outside the box." One of her other favorite activities is exercising with family and friends. She gains balance, creativity, and a new perspective from these various hobbies.
