As Director, I provided guidance to the Academic Support Center (ASC) team through hiring, strategic planning, assessment, resource development, and departmental outreach. I worked with vendors, external, and internal stakeholders to secure resources for students that support them in becoming self-directed learners. Additionally, I developed quality assurance and training guidelines to ensure academic coaches provide consistent, excellent service to all students by continually developing their academic coaching skills.

As Graduate Writing Faculty, I develop academic writing skills of graduate students through learner-centered curriculum. I provide written and video feedback that corresponds with a rubric for each writing assignment. I help students become self-directed learners by providing resources and activities for students to improve upon the academic research, writing, and citing process using APA formatting. Previous duties include supporting students as a writing coach both in a WRIT classroom and as an embedded writing coach in distance education, management, and business administration classes. As a writing coach coordinator, I developed the WRIT room schedule, worked with the graduate director to ensure consistency among writing coaches, and developed writing, citing, and grammar resources to assist students with their writing.

As Assistant Director of the Writing, Reading, and Language Center (WRLC), I supported daily operations in a learning center that supports over 100,000 students per year. I managed a team of 20 student workers and trained them to support students, promote the center through distributing flyers and event brochures, and aided them in developing their resumes through completing a variety of projects to help with managing and organizing the center. Additionally, I oversaw Instructional Associates in the development of writing center and tutoring pedagogy, workshops, and classroom visits. In order to enhance the visibility of the center, I worked with students and staff to promote the WRLC throughout campus. In order to make sure both faculty and staff are continually satisfied with the center, it was my job to assess students' tutoring and workshop experiences as well as faculty's overall satisfaction with the center and its offerings.

Duties Included: Teaching En111 and designing the syllabus and assignments for the college composition class that was focused on using different rhetorical modes to teach students how to write academically. The class culminated with a research paper and taught students how to find a variety of peer-reviewed, academically competent sources. I also taught En112 and designed the syllabus and assignments for the college composition class that was focused on using literature as the subject of argumentative essay writing. Another class I was responsible for was En125. I designed the syllabus and assignments for the literature survey class focused on teaching students who intend on transferring to a four-year university or college to complete a Bachelor degree. I also taught the Hybrid En111 and EN112 classes, and I am Virginia Community College (VCC) certified to teach hybrid courses.
