Belonging Coordinator
Othering is the problem, and belonging is the solution. This is a big and rich statement that defines not only my personal work within OBI, but the Institutes work as a whole. Othering is the problem of our time, it shows up related to race, religion, ability, gender, sexual orientation, class, education, citizenship and so much more. Understanding conceptually and practically what belonging is, is a large part of our collective work at the Institute, and my job in particular is to build out ways to share with the global public what belonging is through ours and others research as well as what it looks like or can look like in practice. I am actively working to build out a frame for "Places of Belonging." This initiative is fueled by the research of the institute, enriched by practitioners across the globe and their practices of belonging, coupled with the push or advancement from our current state to one that is closer to belonging for all people. Some topics I am currently exploring and interested in: Identity, it's fluidity and how to break free from the perception of static identities. How to infuse bridging into our society to intervene and redirect continual breaking patterns. The structural levers of change required for the advancement of belonging within and across entities.

This project is part of a fast and urgent response to the barriers of structural racism on communities of color and those socially underserved. - Coordinating the SafetyNet resource distribution organizations for the benefit of people in need - Managing DPH's relationship with consultants in creating a business development plan that will direct the department's strategic growth for the next 3-5 years.-Project managing the change and movement of 4 public health clinics into a new 300,000 sq foot outpatient medical center
