My hair was on fire for six years as a Medicaid Managed Care Executive. Driving quality outcomes within a heavily regulated and constantly evolving environment was a constant juggling act. Why? Medicaid is all about reaching the hardest to reach and serving the hardest to serve. Outreach and engagement aren’t buzzwords or checkbox activities – how and where we show up is the difference between health and sickness, between supported and slipped through the cracks. Getting it right there is how we scale better healthcare for all consumers.It’s the difference in our bottom lines as well. Readmissions, poor medication adherence, and inadequate health literacy cost the system almost $500 Billion annually.
