Fifteen years ago, my husband started the Glass Guru of Honolulu. Good for him, I thought, as I continued my magazine writing career and we started a family. Then, with a toddler wiping boogers on my leg and a newborn wailing in my arms, I thought, okay, maybe I need a break from full-time deadlines. I left my job to help him out, doing a bit of everything - reception, scheduling, HR and payroll, taxes, etc. I wasn't sure exactly what my official title was, and although he insisted it was Vice President, I named myself Khaleesi instead. (It was 2013, okay? Daenerys Targaryen was hot shit back then.) Since then, I have enjoyed the flexibility and freedom of part-time hours, working remotely, and burning my enemies alive.
