I worked with a select group of 8th-12th grade girls that interviewed for the Eureka! S.T.E.M program. While I worked with the girls to build connections with each other, I also needed to support all the girls in their academics during the school year, give them opportunities and build leadership skills within themselves, and work along side my manager to connect with Universities, S.T.E.M companies and individuals within the community to plan monthly activities (women in S.T.E.M, job prep, college prep, etc) summer camp, and extern/internships.

Annual Power to the Girl: The conference was themed “Power H.E.R (Health, Equity and Reform)” and provided girls in 6th-10th grade attending schools in underserved areas of Dallas the social and emotional tools they need to navigate this challenging time. Power 2 the girlGIMD collaboration with Dallas ISD: Help create an asynchronous lesson that will be uploaded to, Clever, an educational platform to speak to the middle school girls about self esteem and body image.

Mentoring teens on how to mentally and emotionally deal with the world we live in, in a fun unique way by giving them real-world tools and brave spaces to do personal and peer-to-peer work. We also work with parents and their teen's relationships. We also provide education and workshops for adults on learning about, getting connected with, and healing their inner teen as well.

I helped lesson plan for the girls who attended our after-school program. I worked with the girl’s grades 4th-6th at our South Dallas location. I made sure they worked on any schoolwork they had, made sure the girls got the after-school snack brought to them daily, then I would teach during our programming time from our Girls Inc curriculum and made sure the girls knew they had a safe place to talk about anything going on in their lives.

I went into schools GIMD has partnered with and teach the topics they wish for us to teach their girls during the school day or after school on campus. We work closely with the principals, counselors, and other leaders in the school to make sure we are not only teaching what the students need but also making sure our lessons are well-rounded and consider the student-to-teacher dynamic, peer-to-peer dynamic and the needs of the girls that attend those schools.

Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico

Supported the teen girls in the children's home and surrounding areas by providing academic workshops, community service events, field trips, and more. What started as a group of 5 teens grew to 15+ teen girls in the area, I was supporting.
