About Ashley Garland
I combine my 11 years of experience as a therapist and leader in the behavioral health field with my legal education and experience to bring a unique perspective to the practice of law. Currently, I am an Associate Attorney at a civil litigation firm in Philadelphia. We take a wide variety of cases and represent both plaintiffs and defendants across Pennsylvania and other states. This includes writing and negotiating contracts and other legal documents, bringing and responding to claims, conducting discovery, deposing witnesses, motions practice, oral advocacy, trial work, and post-trial work.Prior to working at Mitts Law, I worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the behavioral healthcare field for 11 years. During that time, I supported children, adolescents, adults, couples and families on their journeys to heal from trauma, substance use, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and other needs. I also held positions in leadership in which I oversaw the quality of clinical services, supervised therapists, spearheaded responses to third-party and state licensing audits, wrote policies and procedures, and helped open new treatment programs.It is an honor to advocate for others, especially those who are marginalized and oppressed, previously as a therapist and now as an attorney. I hope that my non-traditional pathway to the legal field lends itself to the unique needs of clients.
