Ashley Davidson is a hospitality entrepreneur, creative director and filmmaker with a background in urban design and luxury marketing. Her work supports community-building through design, story, and service. After working in urban design and then advertising for 15 years, in 2017 she founded a small agency called Citizen Creative to apply marketing principles from the luxury industry to community-sustaining brands and place-making projects. To foster connections for and within her own local community, she also restored a 120 year old tavern called Kiesling in 2018 and opened a walk-up espresso bar called Milwaukee Caffe in 2020. Both businesses were established in a now-bustling neighborhood that was lacking a common meeting place in Detroit’s Milwaukee Junction/New Center neighborhood. Kiesling won the American Institute of Architects Award for Commercial Design and has been voted Detroit's favorite community bar. Tales of the Cocktail named it one of the 30 Best Cocktail Bars in the USA in both 2023 and 2024. Beyond her primary ventures, Davidson is involved in additional restoration projects, including a historic home in West Village and two apartment buildings in East Village. She also serves on the Board of the Detroit Institute of Art's Film Theater and the Villages Community Development Corporation.
