As the Founder and Educational Therapist at North Star Academics, I have spent the past ten years supporting children and families nationwide in navigating education's cultural and academic demands. Born and educated in West Los Angeles, I deeply understand the unique challenges students of color face. With a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in child development from Tufts University, my educational journey has taken me across the globe, including studying education reform in South Africa and being a Graduate Fellow of the University of Pennsylvania Social Impact program in Belize. My focus centers on improving the quality of education for students and families, concentrating on creating social capital and support for students and families of color. Previously serving as the Director of Family and External Engagement for KIPP DC, working closely with over 6,000 students and families, I have also co-authored research publications addressing educational disparities faced by Black and Latino males. Beyond my work, I enjoy indulging in Randy's Donuts, promoting veganism, donning black Chucks, and jamming to 1990s R&B.
