If you ever find yourself looking at my shins (but mainly the left one), you'll probably notice some bruising and scrapes from one of my favorite journeys so far: climbing. The implied lack of skill embarrassed me until I found the symbolism.These legs are what carry me through my life, and I want to project myself as a person who evidently puts tons of effort into living because she cares—a lot. Though, of course, a picture of talent and expertise is ideal, I still have two years of university left, which means I'm always trying out new things and being (often very) bad at them before I'm good.And honestly, it's pretty rewarding.See what I get to wear on my legs:* Throwing myself at rocks since "it's fun and good for character" and still being happy to buy extra Band-Aids* Exploring science that I'm passionate about without a stats background, but then committing anyways and presenting up to TXSEF finalist status and being invited to poster at UT Austin* Getting stuck in an artistic box, but then playing an old man for my school in a play competition and being recognized (positively) for my performance* Being a generally introverted person, but then pushing my communication skills with the HIVE team, pitching to the international finals level of the Diamond Challenge with the top 63/559 teams from 39 countries total* Acknowledging I've got lots left to learn about sustainability, but then joining the UBC Environmental Policy Association to apply what I do know (marketing) to grow my knowledge bank in the former, winning the UBC AMS Best Sustainability Club by the end of the year* Moving countries in the fall, but then working hard to integrate with the community groups and securing over $500 in sponsorships for the AUS, picking up 70+ lbs of litter with PickUpUBCWith that said, I hope you can tell I never find embarrassment in trying (and not initially succeeding at) many different things or how my interests don't traditionally gel. And that's because those factors help to form my solid and ever-valuable foundation, fused with inspiration from my ranging experiences.
