I produce the 7:30pm evening newscast, a half hour show on KDKA-TV. The show is hyper local and focuses on stories of the day, features, and consumer news.

I make sure that local content is always available for our viewers. I work with our broadcast producers to expand coverage outside of newscasts, especially in breaking news situations. I also work closely with our digital staff to coordinate social app pushes for live events, as well as providing them with edited content that airs on our stream. Outside of streaming responsibilities, I have also extended help providing the following services: writing scripts (VOs/VOSOTS) for newscasts, verifying information with public safety officials, dispatching crews, fielding news tips, and uploading audio news updates for Alexa.

I booked guests to appear on the air, researched topics and helped on-air talent develop a program outline. In the newsroom, I followed developing news, verified information and wrote copy for on-air anchors. I also turned on-air scripts into articles for the station's website and wrote original content. I wrote social media copy and scheduled content on Facebook and Twitter. I also edited, recorded and podcasted on-air programming. When I was in the producer's booth I ran the board, screened calls and oversaw the on-air automation system.

During my time as a keyholder at the Exchange, I ran daily business including store inventory, returns/defective product and resolving customer complaints. I managed staff training and improvement through verbal coaching and written reviews. I also produced promotional material in the form of sidewalk signage.

During my time at WISH 99.7, I served as a remote broadcast set-up technician for on-site broadcasts and appearances. I assisted in the execution of WISH 99.7’s Street Treat Patrol project; the stations ice cream and snack delivery vehicle, where I presented the WISH 99.7 brand through friendly, upbeat interactions with the public at community events in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

Relevant Software: PastPerfect, Photoshop, As a Mellon Foundation Fellow, I worked under the direction of Ron Baraff, Director of Historic Resources and Facilities, and Chris McGinnis, Chief Curator of Rivers of Steel Arts (RoSA). I curated the first mini-exhibition for the Steel Case Mini Exhibit project that was displayed at Indiana University of Pennsylvania through the fall 2016 academic semester. I created promotional material for the exhibition and developed a social media outreach protocol. I also supervised volunteers and assisted with events on site at Carrie Furnace.

I wrote and copy-edited media alerts and press releases for upcoming programs, events, and satellite gallery exhibitions. I learned about and assisted with market research by monitoring and reporting on attendance and visitor surveys. I also learned a considerable amount about planning exhibitions. I conducted exhibition research, wrote text panels and assisted with artwork installation.My final projects at this internship include taking the lead on all marketing materials, including calendar listings and press releases, for "Pattern and Place: Art Quilts by Valerie Goodwin" a solo-exhibition at SCC’s BNY Mellon Center Satellite Gallery. I also story-boarded, filmed and edited a promotional video for an interactive guest activity that accompanied "Mindful: Exploring Mental Health Through Art."

I approved all broadcasting materials, monitored and evaluated all on-air shows daily and conducted quarterly show evaluations. I taught students how to voice track mic-breaks during automated programming. I also trained students on how to use Playlist Editor, Pro Tools, and MusicMaster. Lastly, I led weekly brainstorming sessions with my staff where we wrote, recorded and edited all on-air promotional content.

During this exhibition seminar class offered by Pitt, I worked closely with Janet McCall, Executive Director of Society for Contemporary Craft, and Isabelle Chartier, Curator of the University Art Gallery, in a class of 10 students in charge of curating, installing and documenting the exhibition "Exposure: Black Voices in the Arts,"on display from November 9th - December 11th 2015 in the University of Pittsburgh's Art Gallery.I wrote funding requests to secure funding and press releases to promote the exhibition's opening. I organized educational and interactive activities in the gallery for guest participation. I learned how to install artwork onto the walls of the gallery and lead tours through the gallery using Visual Thinking Strategies. I also conductedinterviews with artists through the NPR StoryCorps app to be archived in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

As a barista at Starbucks, I maintained store standards, evaluated store environment, anticipated customer needs to increase customer satisfaction, and connected with every customer to make each visit personalized. I also trained and mentored new partners on company mission statement, barista knowledge and customer service skills.

I learned camera operation and video editing procedures for live and pre-recorded programs and interviews. Marketing responsibilities included writing press releases and social media copy.
