I lead all of Bridgeford Trust Company’s South Dakota operations from our office in Sioux Falls. I specifically oversee and work closely with Bridgeford Trust Company’s trust administrative and compliance teams in both our Pierre and Sioux Falls offices, focus extensively on strategic plan implementation, and support the company’s growth, business development, and legal initiatives.I serve on our Board of Managers and Trust Administrative Committees, as well as serving on the Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committee, the Employment Committee, and the Finance Committee.

In my prior practice, I was an industry leader and highly accomplished in the establishment of South Dakota trust companies. I regularly assisted clients with the creation and compliance of trust companies, both public and private, under South Dakota law. I had extensive experience forming, and regularly worked with, a wide-variety of different types of trust companies. I helped obtain numerous public and private South Dakota trust company charters for clients, and was uniquely skilled in this area. My work with trust company clients also included drafting necessary policies and procedures, assisting with changes of control or mergers, and working with trust companies on an extensive range of post-charter compliance issues, from general board and trust committee compliance to responding to regulatory exams, new statutes, administrative rules, or regulatory guidance. Along with my trust company compliance work, I also helped my trust company clients with their many trust administration or custodial account administration issues.My practice also included assisting clients with trust administration issues including:-modification or reformation,-decanting,-division or severance,-merger or consolidation,-termination,-removal or appointment of trustee, advisor, or trust protector,-approval of accountings,-virtual representation questions,-trustee liability issues, and-changing situs and governing law.I regularly reviewed trusts drafted by out-of-state attorneys for South Dakota validity and provided guidance to my trust administration clients on the requirements of South Dakota trust law. I helped my clients achieve their objectives both non-judicially and through formal court approval. I have worked with numerous ultra-high net-worth clients on a variety of trust issues, from consent-based matters to contested litigation.
