I am a Brock University student who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and looking to specialize in addictions and mental health counselling. I am looking to build community connections with resources to foster a better understanding of my field. More specifically, I would like to volunteer within the community at organizations that advocate for mental health and addictions treatment. I am currently a manager at Showcase- Home of the Hottest Trends, where I motivate my team to engage with guests and excel in sales, while providing excellent customer service. Presently, I am volunteering in a long-term care home working in a secure floor for those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Working in a long-term care home as given me the ability to be empathetic to those in need as well as conflict resolution and providing quality care to those with cognitive impairments. My goal is to gather relevant experience in mental health and addictions by expanding on my experience of working with mental health disorders and current volunteer position in a long-term care home.
