As a Technical Implementation Specialist, I aid in getting clients off the ground once they make a commitment to Backstop. I share responsibility within a team of 7 to load client data to our platform, correct current data, and remove data that is no longer necessary. When not directly interacting with the platform, I am also a key player in developing custom Excel based tools using Backstop's ETK (Excel ToolKit) and Excel Add-in functionality. With this, I am aiding in the development of standardization for the ETK tools produced to allow for streamlined client facing products that exist externally from the Backstop platform. At other times, I develop Python tools to assist my team in automating more complex data ingestion processes.

I'm always looking for ways to broaden my skillset. In 2017, I completed a MySQL bootcamp which ultimately landed me in my current role as a Data Manager, in charge of a Snowflake environment and all ETL processes. I completed courses in both MySQL & SQL Server Integration Services. Currently, I'm taking a Python course and two courses in JavaScript, one guided and one self guided. My hopes are to transition my tools to using a more fluid programming language and expand my horizons past Excel & VBA, though they'll always be my first loves.

Data Manager | Data Engineer | VBA DeveloperMy role works heavily with VBA code to provide data processing automation for my team. I have developed over 30 Excel based tools, from one off tools meant for quick processing of data exports, to hub-like, interactive templates that generate custom reports based on user specificity. PowerQuery has played a crucial role alongside VBA, and I've become comfortable using ODBC connections to bring outside data into Excel to do transformations. I’ve used PowerShell as the vehicle to take local data and send it to a Snowflake cloud database. My usage of PowerShell, VBA & Power Query has eliminated the need for my colleagues to become inundated with learning SQL commands and instead focus on their own daily goals. I have served as the lead engineer for building out our Snowflake data warehouse. I have the sole responsibility for spinning up new warehouses, creating any necessary tables & corresponding views, creating & granting access privileges to new roles & users, and for developing the data load processes to bring in data. I still have a large role involving Tableau Desktop and have autonomy in producing our online and ad-hoc Tableau reports. Overall though, my mission on my team is to make my colleagues' day to day tasks faster and less cumbersome, so that they, too, can focus their time and energy on things they truly find interesting in our line of work.
