My role as Head of Trading is to support the Commercial Team, ensure we meet our Global P&L targets, support strategic initiatives and help drive the business forward.

My role as UK Commercial Manager is to ensure the businesses hits the annual financial target. I use data to build the monthly marketing plan, align with Product, Marketing & Sales to ensure we achieve the UK’s targets. Throughout the month we track our financial performance daily, this enables me to quickly assess if there is an issue and implement changes as required. This quick response has led to record breaking results.

My role at HUM (Honda of the UK Manufacturing) was to set and deliver the strategic company plan. To do this, my team and I carry out vast research into future trends & the external factors, with this and a variety of other aspects we set the company strategy and subsequent business plans. This is then actioned by stakeholders throughout HUM and managed by Business Planning. I then share the findings monthly to senior managers and present the findings / recommendations to the HUM & European Director.Whilst in this role, I played a critical part in helping Honda of the UK Manufacturing achieve the latest ISO 9001 standard by creating the market research process which was identified as industry leading by the auditor.The market research graded risks based on threat, likelihood & occurrence, similar to an FMEA. Risks & opportunities were then managed through a company wide system, updates were shared monthly in our newsletter and our annual trend report was published to all relevant stakeholders. I would then present the full findings to all stakeholders, with an open session at the end of each meeting to ensure all parties were clear on the message / task ahead.I also completed a business planning best practice project with my colleague, the research was both qualitative and quantitative. The findings & recommendations were approved and the projects were managed collaboratively between us, using PRINCE2 practices.

As Base Engines Budget Lead I was responsible for managing a team which controlled a variety of budget categories including Headcount, D&D (Design & Development), Overheads and Prototypes. As the lead I had to ensure the team met all our annual targets, work collaboratively with Senior Management and present to Chief Engineers.During this period, I decided to complete a best practice project for our division. My findings created several projects which were delegated and managed by myself. All of the projects were delivered to plan, following best practice principles.I focussed on one theme which was to create a long-term cost projector that enabled chief engineers to foresee our likely design spend in 10-15 years; this allowed strategic decisions to be made, ensuring our growth was sustainable.

Whilst working for Jaguar Land Rover as a Technical Analyst within Body my role was to manage & meet the annual D&D budget. To achieve this, I had to be proficient in data analysis / interpretation and present weekly to our Chief Engineer, to highlight concerns and provide recommendations.During this tenure, I wanted to increase our efficiency & reduce administration. This was achieved through the implementation of automatic metrics, a newly introduced SharePoint & on the job training to our stakeholders.

As Student Voice Coordinator it was my responsibility to understand our customer’s satisfaction (the students). To do this I completed a large project on student satisfaction which included quantitative and qualitative findings. The findings were summarised and presented to senior leaders who approved the recommendations. Swindon College went on to achieve ‘Outstanding’ in the Ofsted inspection partly due to my role.
