I was the administrator of a virtual online school for all of Allegan County; 7 districts, 44 staff, 1,600 students in grades K-12.

Implement school-wide ELA (LEXIA Rapid) and Math (Easy CBM) benchmark assessments in grades K-5 for 650 students and 40 staff members. Support teachers through the cycle of teaching and learning. Analyze state assessment data to determine effectiveness of Tier I instruction, evaluate research based, high yield strategies and train staff through ongoing, job embedded, professional development (modeling, co-teaching, coaching) on strategies. Track student data, collaborate with teachers and teams to plan services for students. Support teachers through developing a system of targeted interventions (RTI). Collaborat with Special Education, Highly Capable and ELL teachers to scaffold support based on individualized educational goals. Train teachers and paraprofessionals on supplemental programs including KPals, First Pals, Sound Partners, Phonics for Reading, Rewards, Rewards Science, Read Naturally, and LEXIA Connections. Developing a math site to house OER resources for our curriculum adoption. Offer math professional development around standards alignment, math workshop, growth mindset, mathematical mindsets, number talks and rich tasks. Support grade 3-5 teachers through 1:1 and K-2 teachers through 2:1 technology implementation. Serve on the building leadership, math and technology leadership teams.

2nd/3rd Grade Teacher Planned and implemented instruction utilizing Washington State standards and Common Core using district adopted curricula and a variety of supplemental resources. Designed individual and group interventions based on multiple assessment measures including NWEA MAPs, DIBELS, STAR Math & Reading, benchmark and classroom-based assessments. Collaborated with colleagues to implement GLAD and other research-based teaching strategies. I also piloted the new Summative SBA assessment. Wrote a funded grant through Donors Choose to obtain a class set of Chromebooks to utilize educational technology to individualize learning for all students. Served on the Science Leadership, Math and Technology committees.

Assess students formatively and summatively, track growth and design individual and group interventions based on multiple measures including MAPs, DIBELS, math benchmark and classroom-based assessments. Develop successful classroom management around the PBIS model and through Whole Brain Teaching. Work to align math curriculum to standards, develop and implement common grade level assessments utilizing Data Director. Organize grade level and staff collaborations around mathematics and attended a variety of trainings and workshops to further develop my expertise. Supported staff using and integrating technology to enhance learning activities and provide additional guided practice for students.

I worked part-time with kids in the youth and teen center to promote physical fitness and the core values of the YMCA (respect, responsible, caring and honesty).

Designed activities to engage Bloom’s higher level thinking and improve problem solving skills. Administered progress monitoring. Developed activities based on Marzano’s theories to help build vocabulary skills. Built effective classroom management skills, modeled acceptable behavior and utilized district adopted PBIS program for behavior management.
