In high school, I swam competitively. My coach helped me realize that I swam my best when I was cheering for others. --- I learned then, that my purpose in life was to help others succeed.Numbers and math have always come easy to me (my favorite class was calculus – are you cringing?). I thought it made sense for me to be an accountant. But when I took some leadership development and training classes in college, I was HOOKED. At graduation, my professor told me “Ashley, training is what you were meant to do.” --- This was when I learned HOW I was going to help others succeed: through training.As a leader of a variety of different teams, I practiced the skills I had been teaching. Sometimes I got it right and other times I utilized the learning opportunity to adjust and improve. --- I learned that each of us is uniquely built to lead in our own way and that the books and content out there, they work. We each need to figure out how it works for us. Over the past 15 years I have found that some people “get it” in training but there were so many others that did not. I wanted everyone to have the “lightbulb moments.” As I learned more about personalities and how people work, I found that for many people, processing the information and relating it to their situation allowed them to have a deeper understanding of the content. Becoming a certified coach has helped me to take my training skills to the next level so that they can have lasting, actionable development. --- I upskilled my training skills by adding individual and group coaching to my set of tools.What I do: I focus on developing high-performing teams by meeting them where they are, identifying their strengths and where they want to go then working together to accomplish those goals.You know your company, your team and yourself better than anyone else.
