I served as a communications manager supporting Rheem Manufacturing's U.S. Water division. My primary responsibilities included driving employee engagement and strategic internal communications.

In 2017, I received an internal promotion. I managed Piedmont's intranet and led the internal social strategy. I created content for the intranet, educated intranet users of all levels and promoted two-way conversation between employees and the organization. I had the opportunity to start with the first Internal Communications team at Piedmont. This role allowed me to do a lot of what I love: solve problems, engage employees and tell stories for the organization. On behalf of my primary client, Always Safe, I worked with the vice president of Patient Safety and Quality to create a communications program to maximize reach and effectiveness, supporting a culture of safety. These efforts contributed to a 28% reduction in serious safety events and a 300% increase in employee engagement in the annual safety survey.In addition to my work with Always Safe, I assumed the intranet content strategy from the IT department, resulting in increased site hits and employee satisfaction.~ Honored with Healthcare Performance Improvement “Face of Safety” accolade~ Honored with Piedmont Healthcare Promise 360 Award for quality and safety work~ Promoted to lead intranet communications in 2017

In this role, I filled a number of gaps for the organization, having come into the corporate role with a wide array of knowledge from working in retail locations. This deep knowledge enabled me to act as a quick and efficient online reputation manager, specializing in conflict resolution and customer retention – while still generating enough sales to earn top 3 status among peers every month.My previous retail roles included assistant general manager, operations team lead and associate. As an assistant general manager, I counseled retail associates on best practices for sales techniques and customer experience. I also facilitated hiring and training of new staff members, including ongoing observation and coaching.

In my first exposure to the field of internal communication, I produced content for communications vehicles including the employee magazine and intranet. While managing content for internal clients, I also assisted with information architecture for the new intranet.

During graduate school I served as a graduate research assistant in the Communications department. I had the opportunity to assist with health communications and social media research in addition to advising undergraduate students. In addition, during my time as a graduate assistant, I presented my own research at the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC).

As a Teach For America corps member, I relocated to Houston, TX to fight inequity in education. During my time at YES, I taught 8th grade U.S. History and 9th grade English. During both years, students achieved a rate of 100% passing on standardized test. For the 8th grade pre-Civil War class, it was the first time in the school's history. I also served as a co-grade level chair during my second year and coached volleyball, basketball and soccer.
