Responsible for developing and implementing a $2 million cyclical fundraising strategies for the Academy’s political action committee, developing, maintaining relationships with Academy supported candidates, lobbying members of Congress and their staffs to advance the legislative priorities of the Academy, and overseeing the Academy’s federal grassroots program in order to impact federal legislation and advance the strategic goals of the Academy’s legislative agenda. Also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the PAC to support the (re)election of “friends” of ophthalmology to the U.S. Congress.Additional duties include management of the OPHTHPAC committee and coordinating their peer-to-peer fundraising efforts at the Annual Meeting and Mid-Year Forum, implementing new strategies to grow member participation in the PAC, managing annual PAC disbursements of $900,000 to Members of Congress and federal candidates and ensure compliance with Federal Election Commission regulations, developing and implementing fundraising communications, supervising paid vendors to ensure quality and cost control, analyzing contribution data of Academy’s PAC as well as other PACs within our “peer group” and forecasting performance, developing PAC and grassroots related stories for the Academy’s weekly governmental affairs newsletter and other Academy publications, assisting Academy members with the planning of fundraising and other political events, management of the Academy’s independent expenditure program, tracking election information and providing government affairs staff with updates throughout the election cycle, coordinating PAC and grassroots activities, including the delivery of PAC contributions to Academy members and ensuring timely delivery of contributions to members of Congress and candidates, managing PAC website content, and supervising legislative/political intern and fly-in coordinator.

Responsible for managing all Washington, DC based fundraising over two election cycles for numerous congressional clients and candidates. Additional duties included developing finance plans for members of Congress and their leadership PACs, planning & executing DC, local & national fundraising events, maintaining an extensive fundraising network, developing and managing member call time, building strong relationships with PAC and lobbyist community and serving as a liaison between clients and PAC representatives.

Responsible for overseeing, advising, and assessing campaign fundraising operations for congressional races, and acting as finance liaison between campaigns and the DCCC. Major responsibilities included the training and placement of finance staff on campaigns, and working with campaigns to strengthen their finance operations. Other responsibilities included raising money from the PAC, member and individual donor communities, as well as, working with campaigns to execute DC and district fundraising events, overseeing three campaign events with President Clinton, extensive travel for on the ground assessments & management, and helping to build finance plans to meet campaign budgets.
