Overall duties included raising $305,000 annually for MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter through direct donor stewardship, grants, and major events. As the development director, I maintained and monitored all marketing platforms, including the website, print, digital appeals, social media, and radio ads. Quarterly tasks included creating and distributing digital and paper appeals to fund general operations. To reach an intended donor segments, I co-maintain Bloomerang, a customer relationship management database.In between annual fund solicitations, I worked with the executive director to secure grant funding for general operations, specific programs and special initiatives. This included research, grant writing, proofreading, implementation and final reporting. I secured grants to fund the marketing and implementation of MCPAWS' Home To Home program through the ASPCA, a canine kennel renovation, and dog behavior seminars for the community and MCPAWS volunteers and staff members.I planned and executed several events, mainly Oktoberfest and Auction for the Animals. Oktoberfest drew 1000+ people. Part of my job was to obtain sponsorships, secure musical acts, and manage craft and food vendors. Auction for the Animals 2023 brought in $65,000 to raise unrestricted funds for shelter operations. While fundraising is my primary duty at MCPAWS, I enjoy being an office foster during shelter hours to give dogs and cats a break from their kennels and provide them with a little extra exercise and socialization.

Kentucky Heartwood (KH) seeks to protect and restore the integrity, stability, and beauty of Kentucky’s native forests and biotic communities through research, education, advocacy, and community engagement.Responsibilities include completing federal agency project analysis through the lens of the law and science, managing all communication channels with members and supporters, fostering financial stability through grants and foundations, and monitoring the landscape. Primary forest watch issues concern lands on and around the Daniel Boone National Forest and Land Between the Lakes. The Cumberland Plateau is the world's longest expanse of hardwood- forested plateau with incredible biological diversity. It's worthy of our attention and wonder.

Buffalo Field Campaign is the only group working both in the field and in the policy arenas to stop the harassment and slaughter of America’s last wild buffalo and protect the natural habitat of wild free-roaming bison and other native wildlife.Cooked nutritious meals for volunteers during a cold Yellowstone winter, managed a food budget, recruited volunteers, and assisted with field station maintenance. I saw an opening in my career to take time to help a non-profit organization doing effective, boots-on-the-ground work to protect bison and their habitat.

Friends of the Clearwater (FOC), a recognized non-profit organization since 1987, defends the Idaho Clearwater Bioregion’s wildlands and biodiversity through a Forest Watch program, litigation, grassroots public involvement, outreach, and education.With guidance from seasoned non-profit managers, I formalized a development program for FOC. This included cultivating relationships with 900 donors, securing major-gifts of $1,000+, penning thirty successful grants, and facilitating matching grants. We exceeded the organization’s annual budget goals by 20% over the course of four years.

EcoAnalysts, Inc. is an environmental consulting company specializing in the bioassessment of aquatic communities, such as algae, benthic invertebrates and fish. Primarily acted as a liaison between the sales team, the laboratory, and clients for 50+ projects pertaining to water quality monitoring. Duties included conveying protocols to taxonimsts, managing changing laboratory capacity, and training laboratory technicians in diatom and soft body sample preparation.

Research tracked marine-derived nutrient inputs into ecosystems void of Pacific salmon for centuries. We collected and analyzed thousands samples to track nitrogen and carbon isotope flows through soil and forest vegetation for a restoration and mitigation program. My favorite part of the job was the field work, and oddly enough, pasteurizing over 3,800 pounds of fish to measure nutrient cycling in riparian ecosystems.
