My social work journey started at Parents Aid, where I worked for 3 years both as a volunteer and a project coordinator. I learned mediation skills, rolled out anger management training and parenting classes to individuals and provided advocacy support. I was fortunate to have both my 70 and 100 days placements at Thurrock council, whilst studying at Essex university. I worked in both the fostering team and OPCMHT Since qualifying as a social worker in 2017 with a 2.1, I was lucky to secure a ASYE position in the OPCMHT in Thurrock. I gained numerous skills working with individuals with enduring mental health needs, to create holistic support/care plans that are strength based and person centred in approach. This has enabled them to remain independent and have a voice over what they feel they require, to help them live their own lives and be part of their community. I am currently a senior practitioner in the Adult safeguarding team . I throughly enjoy the challenges of my role and working in partnership with various professionals and organisations, to safeguard the most vulnerable people in our community. I have also completed my continuing professional development course at Bournemouth university. I am now a qualified Best interest assessor.
