Launched and led a new 1-to-1 middle-and-high school in Marin, California, and grew the school beyond expectations in a successful five-year tenure as Head of School.Introduced the Marin community to the Fusion Academy model and raised awareness of the program; enrolled students and ensured student success and parent satisfaction; recruited, trained, evaluated and coached teachers and administrators; fostered curriculum development across subjects; managed budgets; and strategized and forecasted growth.

Advised Bill Gates’ Big History Project development team on necessary curriculum revisions in order to achieve UC Doorways course approval.Offered strategies to the project team re: widespread course adoption in California.Revised the curriculum, in collaboration with the project team at University of Michigan, intended for students in grades 9 and 10—compressed 20 units into 10, added a historical frame, embedded literacy activities.Edited the Big History Project UC Doorways program-status application.As part of the Big History pilot program, taught the course at School for Independent Learners and Fusion Academy.

Customized a unique 1-to-1 course for each student, grades 6 - 12. Taught college-prep, Advanced Placement, and enrichment-and-tutoring programs for all kinds of learners with diverse needs, interests, and goals.

Redesigned the 1-to-1 school’s organizational structure, academic program, teacher professional development program, and system of school-wide evaluation, reform, and oversight. Formed credit-transfer partnerships with 50+ Bay Area schools. More than doubled enrollment in three years through strategic programming, outreach, and marketing. Recruited, trained, mentored, and coached faculty and staff: hired 18 of the school’s 25 teachers and improved faculty retention +88% in three years. Served as WASC Self-Study Coordinator, facilitating the creation and implementation of new school-wide self-study and a six-year action plan for school improvement. UC Doorways Course Coordinator: shepherded the UC Doorways approval of 100+ new college-prep courses. Curriculum Designer: wrote 15+ course applications approved by UC Doorways and two by the College Board (English language arts, history and social studies, visual and performing arts). Head of Student Guidance: customized a unique program for each student; monitored learning and student wellbeing; crafted and oversaw student interventions; fostered post-graduation planning. Began as a teacher and English Department Chair.
