About Ashley Brown
I currently have almost two decades of professional environmental monitoring and data management experience. Working for South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), I have been responsible for both acquisition and validation, database management of operations, hydrologic, metrological, and water quality data. I have worked providing support to laboratory administration. I work with a team of professional scientists in QA/QC and validation of water quality monitoring analytical and field data. I played a crucial role in establishing protocol for validation of continuous monitoring water quality and hydrologic data. I also possess a broad skill set based in field diagnosis of malfunctioning monitoring instrumentation and repair and maintenance of this instrumentation resulting from cross training with the SCADA maintenance group at SFWMD. While working in the Analytical Services section of SFWMD, I have acquired extensive knowledge in water quality monitoring techniques, laboratory analysis procedures, data management and analysis, and LIMS system usage. I have been responsible for providing consistent and continuous data for water supply water budget and quality analyses, flood plain studies, and hydrologic modeling, as well as assessment of ecological restoration efforts such as the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Project. I have also served as a backup technician for the digestion of groundwater and surface water samples for trace metals analysis by ICP-MS (EPA 200.7), reducing backlogged samples during periods of high sampling events.I am currently only interested in fully remote positions, but I am open to a variety of tasks.
Listed skills include Water Quality, Environmental Awareness, Water, Environmental Science, and 33 others.

Scientist 3 - Analytical Services
As part of the Data Validation unit, my primary responsibility was for the validation of data deliverables from the SFWMD Chemistry Laboratory and contracted laboratories (including FDEP). These tasks are vital to the operations of the District and are required by the QA Rule (FAC62-160) and provide crucial information to the District laboratory in maintaining certification from the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP). Validation activities include review and final approval of laboratory data prior to its use for research support and for reporting as required in the District's various FDEP and USACE permits. Presently, more than 250,000 analytical laboratory results are validated each year. Additionally, I continued performing tasks such as Continuous Monitoring network data validation and analysis, data loading, and LIMS assistance for research associates, as well as laboratory wide productivity and backlog monitoring. Assisted the Laboratory Administrator with creation of both weekly productivity backlog and productivity reports, as well as the annual Chemistry Laboratory Quality Manual and Quality Systems Annual Report. I co-authored three standard operating procedure documents and revised them yearly.
Environmental Scientist
In this position, Ms. Satterfield works with the section’s Data Steward to load all data from the internal laboratory analyses to the District’s enterprise database, DBHydro. Ms. Satterfield also serves to lead the Continuous Monitoring data processing group in order to enhance the availability and quality of continuous monitoring data, and to improve the business processes by which the data were processed. Ms. Satterfield wrote updated SOP’s to document both the loading of sample data as well as data processing/validation procedures for continuous monitoring data. She was trained in the maintenance/usage of both Hydrolab and YSI sondes for water quality monitoring during this time and she worked with the Monitoring and Maintenance groups to establish protocol for scheduled maintenance of continuously deployed sondes. During her tenure at SFWMD, Ms. Satterfield seized opportunities to cross train and work at an intermediate level for field collection of water samples and proper submission of field samples including COC and header sheets. She was trained in LIMS usage and frequently used the program to investigate data issues. She currently serves as the backup technician for all trace metals analysis, digesting and analyzing water samples. In addition to her significant laboratory analysis experience, Ms. Satterfield also routinely participates in assisting with field work for various research projects ranging from soil and sediment chemistry and microbial ecology, wetland plant productivity and community response to nutrient and hydrologic conditions, as well as ecosystem restoration ecology.
Engineering Associate Ii
In these positions, Ms. Satterfield worked to create and maintain digital records of many types of data including surface water levels, ground water levels, pump and gate operations at water control structures, and rainfall. In addition to archiving new data, Ms. Satterfield also performed QA/QC and processed existing data within the District’s enterprise database, DBHydro. She routinely examined the recorded data values against maximum and minimum allowable values, and identified possible anomalies. These anomalies were evaluated to determine their source, whether they were of actual hydrologic or meterologic origin or if it was a data collection device malfunction, and then corrected. Ms. Satterfield excelled in this position, exceeding goals for data processing and archival productivity. She was an integral component to the Drought Data Processing team, completing weekly data request related to Lake Okeechobee water levels during the 2006-2008 drought in South Florida, and was nominated for “Team of the Month” for their efforts. Ms. Satterfield reviewed and edited scientific reports and papers for the Engineering staff to increase clarity and conciseness. Due to the large number of non-native English speakers, Ms. Satterfield was asked to design and teach Technical Writing class geared towards those individuals that sought to improve their writing skills. During her employment at SFWMD, my performance reviews always were in the Very Efficient range and her dedication to high quality work output was noted.
Shopper
In this position, I served as a concierge personal shopper in an on-demand role. Primarily tasked with grocery shopping, I provided services for hundreds of clients across northern Palm Beach County. Through careful time management and attention to detail, I received the highest marks possible for on time deliveries and customer satisfaction. I increased the market reach through community relationships and networking.
