Profile bio

About Ashley Scrivner

I am a cultural anthropologist with a specialization in cultural heritage protection and art crime. I have a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and minors in religious studies and art history, focusing on cultural anthropology and archaeology. I nearly completed my master's degree in anthropology at George Mason University with all in-person MA-level courses already completed. I am currently working on my thesis remotely and independently under the supervision of a faculty thesis research and writing supervisor. I recently finished a postgraduate certificate program in art crime and cultural heritage protection under ARCA in Amelia, Italy. I am a person who aspires for greatness. I truly believe that anthropology and its methods can yield great, innovative results in improving conflict and progressing towards a world that can work better together. With this in mind, my goal in life is to mainstream anthropological methods, work in a career that helps preserve cultural heritage, and prepare future generations with knowledge for this fast, inter-connective world. As someone who was raised in a military family, most of my childhood was spent traveling and living overseas, which exposed me at an early age to rich and diverse cultural history. This exposure and immersion forced me to reflect on my role in society and what I am capable of contributing. Learning about people’s differences and similarities not only made me appreciate the complexities of humankind, but it also made me unveil the fabrics of myself—a never-ending discovery. The adventure I would want to call my life starts by leading by example and my example is to be passionate & forward-looking to the possibilities of today and our future.“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give” -W. Churchill
