Philip Morris provided Asia companies with a custom-developed Sales and Merchandising application utilizing Microsoft SQL technologies. Each company could deploy their own instance of this application to manage their direct selling and merchandising activities. My role encompassed:- management of the sales application deployments and functional enhancements to 6 companies in Asia who implemented the sales application- providing application support and product releases, - providing support for other regional and local business applications.Key achievements in this role were: - the development and deployment of 'hand held' sales applications on iPaq devices which were affordable for the Philip Morris Asia companies. - the development of a common sales reporting data warehouse which was used by the Asia companies for their sales and merchandising analysis. -

Project ManagerNissan Australia Apr 1985 - Jun 1992Melbourne Area, AustraliaI worked at Nissan Australia for 7 years starting as a senior analyst, designing and developing dealership vehicle ordering and tracking systems. From there I progressed to a Project Leadership role where I managed the Spare Parts system with a team of 3 other staff. In my last 3 years at Nissan I was promoted to the position of Project Manager and managed a large project to replace and improve Nissan’s payroll and HR applications. This was a challenging project to gather a team of business and IT talent capable of developing a payroll solution flexible enough to manage all the various pay awards and have automated 'back-paying' capability. The project was a success. Sadly Nissan closed down their vehicle manufacturing plant in Melbourne which meant many redundancies and I opted to leave. I was lucky enough to find work at Philip Morris soon after.

I joined 'Arthur Andersen' IT consulting division in Melbourne and after the initial training was placed on a large project to transform all the business systems for Carlton and United Brewing Ltd. My role was that of team leader for the warehouse distribution system module. This project was a great learning experience for me, introducing me to the dynamics of working on a large project with clients and consultants using a structured approach. The project was successfully deployed. I decided that consulting at Andersens was not what I wanted long term so I left after the project.
