As part of the management team for PMI Global SAP solutions I was the global lead for all SAP BW reporting solutions throughout PMI. This leadership role covers 3 SAP BW solutions for Europe, Asia and corporate Supply Chain, with support teams in Krakow, Jakarta and Melbourne.This role encompasses:- Strategic planning of Business Intelligence adoption and exploitation throughout PMI using the SAP BI suite of technologies- Program management of SAP BI projects throughout PMI companies- Service delivery to support the BI solutions- Management of teams in delivery centres of Krakow, Jakarta, Melbourne, and also IBM outsourced managed service team in India

As part of the management team for PMI Asia Regional SAP solutions, I was the regional lead for all SAP BW reporting solutions throughout PMI Asia affiliate (15 countries). The primary focus of this role was to:- Build a SAP BW competency center in the PMI Melbourne office - Deploy SAP BW reporting capability to the 15 PM Asia companies- Develop a sustainable service and support model with IBM India- Program manage specific BI projects for PMI companies in Asia- Landscape management, upgrades and product enhancement for SAP BWIn this role I also managed business regional applications which were developed in the Microsoft .SQL .Net technology , key application being the PM Asia Expense Claim solution which was used by 20,000 employees throughout Asia.

As part of the management team for PMI Asia Regional business solutions I was the manager for Philip Morris sales solutions. Philip Morris provided Asia companies with a custom-developed Sales and Merchandising application utilizing Microsoft SQL technologies. Each company could deploy their own instance of this application to manage their direct selling and merchandising activities. My role encompassed:- management of the sales application deployments and functional enhancements to 6 companies in Asia who implemented the sales application- providing application support and product releases, - providing support for other regional and local business applications.Key achievements in this role were: - the development and deployment of 'hand held' sales applications on iPaq devices which were affordable for the Philip Morris Asia companies. - the development of a common sales reporting data warehouse which was used by the Asia companies for their sales and merchandising analysis.

Philip Morris in Asia ran several regional business applications on a variety of technologies which were managed from the regional IS organisation (PMIS) in Melbourne. In this role, I managed a team to support and enhance these business applications for customers throughout Asia. The role encompassed program management of various projects, setting up and adhering to service level agreements, customer and stakeholder management, and people management.

I joined the Philip Morris Information Services company, based in Melbourne. This internal Philip Morris company managed projects and application support for the Asia region. During this initial period at PMIS I managed 2 projects for Asia affiliate companies:- Tax changes required for the Australia sales systems- Strategic review of the PM Japan sales system and CRM requirements, and selection of CRM solution (Siebel)

During this time at Philip Morris Australia (PML) I was part of an internal team working with Deloittes to formulate an Information Technology Strategy for the business. This strategy provided the roadmap for PML to update its business systems based around SAP. I was then part of the project management team which implemented the systems upgrade from 1996 to 1998.My responsibility was to manage the development and deployment of the Telesales ordering application across 6 regional offices in Australia, sending orders back to SAP for next day delivery to customers throughout Australia.

I joined Philip Morris Australia to take up the support manager role of their commercial applications, managing a team of 4 staff. The systems under my responsibility were; the Telesales ordering system, Distribution System, Sales Force Management system, Finance system.The role encompassed the provision of application support and functional enhancements to these business applications. This role was a great grounding for me to understand the Philip Morris business model, customers and stakeholders and set me on a path for a long career at Philip Morris.

I worked at Nissan Australia for 7 years starting as a senior analyst, designing and developing dealership vehicle ordering and tracking systems. From there I progressed to a Project Leadership role where I managed the Spare Parts system with a team of 3 other staff. In my last 3 years at Nissan I was promoted to the position of Project Manager and managed a large project to replace and improve Nissan’s payroll and HR applications. This was a challenging project to gather a team of business and IT talent capable of developing a payroll solution flexible enough to manage all the various pay awards and have automated 'back-paying' capability. The project was a success. Sadly Nissan closed down their vehicle manufacturing plant in Melbourne which meant many redundancies and I opted to leave. I was lucky enough to find work at Philip Morris soon after.

This was my first job after migrating to Australia. I joined 'Arthur Andersen' IT consulting division in Melbourne and after the initial training was placed on a large project to transform all the business systems for Carlton and United Brewing Ltd. My role was that of team leader for the warehouse distribution system module. This project was a great learning experience for me, introducing me to the dynamics of working on a large project with clients and consultants using a structured approach. The project was successfully deployed. I decided that consulting at Andersens was not what I wanted long term so I left after the project.

This was my first position after graduating from Warwick University. It was here that I learnt the core skills of computer programming and systems analysis. Cyanamid is a pharmaceutical manufacturer. I worked on the typical commercial applications available at that time. This experience gave me the confidence and grounding to leave the UK and experience working in Australia.
