As a Graduate Research Assistant in the Varberg Lab, I study how placental development impacts pregnancy outcomes, with particular interest in understanding the role this transient organ plays in the developmental origins of health and disease.

Undergraduate Research Assistant in the lab of Dr. Justin Blumenstiel (Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology) studying transposable elements in Drosophila by employing molecular genetics techniques, including but not limited to PCR-gel electrophoresis assays, molecular cloning, and CRISPR-Cas technology.

Summer volunteer internship in the lab of Dr. Aron Fenton at the University of Kansas Medical Center in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Contributed to a project studying the effect of point mutations in non-conserved positions on enzymatic activity of the protein pyruvate kinase. Techniques learned and trained on include: spectrophotometry-based assays, colorimetric assays, protein purification, protein dialysis, protein column separation, protein sonication and centrifugation, and bacterial transformation.
