Planned and coordinated mission-driven, informal education programs designed to connect adults and children with plants and nature through art, science, history and culture for thousands of people each year. Improved student satisfaction with programming and increased attendance, number of offerings, and income generated by adult community classes. Managed projects to build new garden exhibits. Wrote and designed interpretive materials to support permanent collections and temporary exhibits. Supervised three employees and 40 docents. Served on the management team to set long term institutional, directional and yearly operating plans. Planned and led year-round, afterschool programming designed to connect youth to nature through photography for members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tucson. Developed a unique experiential approach and curriculum and trained staff and volunteers to lead programs in multiple locations, primarily in Arizona. Cultivated partnerships with local and national organizations. Secured funding and resources to operate and expand programs. Toured and photographed many of Arizona’s amazing natural areas with curious, funny, and talented middle-school kids.

Introduced members of local Boys & Girls Clubs, many of whom have never before left their neighborhoods, to some of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the country. Through photography, taught basic composition skills, ecology, and conservation while hiking, identifying, and, sometimes, singing our way through national parks, wildlife refuges, and other public lands.
