Mi Gente is the Latiné ERG at Nuro. Through the encouragement of an intern, this group was born. I was a founding member and one of the first co-leads. Working in a diverse organization is a blessing, and we wanted to create a space that brought community to our members and fun education to our workforce. Within a year we were able to accomplish so much:- Build a group of 200 employees together to celebrate the Latiné culture- Create an inclusive environment through ensuring that events were celebrated across the whole company, and we were the first ERG at Nuro to do this- Create a team of leaders to help shepherd the growth of the organization and support it's members- Advocate for clear metrics to be shared openly- Celebrate Latin Heritage Month for the first time in Nuro's history with a big fiesta, and made it a tradition for each year- Partner with other ERGs to bring speakers in support of all of Nuro on the topics of burnout and imposter syndromeUltimately it was the most rewarding work I was able to at Nuro. It's a lot of responsibility, but being able to advocate for equality and transparency within the organization and create partnerships across all ERGs was a huge win. We were building great relationships across all of Nuro and creating a supportive environment for our members.
