With direction from my clinical instructor, I learned to work in the fast paced acute care hospital setting. I implemented screenings and evaluations, provided recommendations for each patient’s next level of care, and administered interventions in the patient’s hospital room for a variety of diagnoses including strokes, transient ischemic attacks, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders, upper and lower extremity fractures, amputations, total hip arthroplasties, and other surgeries and conditions.

I attended The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences for my occupational therapy degree and graduated in April 2019 with high honors. St. Augustine was a hands-on program that provided us with the skills to be successful occupational therapy practitioners.

With direction from my clinical instructor, I learned to implement evaluations and administer treatments to patients in the skilled nursing setting. OT interventions were implemented in the therapy gym and in the client’s room when working on basic ADLs. The clients in this setting were recovering from a variety of diagnoses including pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, dementia, myocardial infarctions, diabetes, arthritis, total hip arthroplasties, and other conditions.

As an ABA therapist I implemented the practice of applied behavior analysis to children with autism and other developmental delays on a one-to-one basis. Programs were directed towards improving the overall behavioral development and daily functioning of our clients, aged 2 years to 18 years old. I gained experience working and communicating with children and their families to develop programs that were specific to each child for their growth and success.

As an assistant to a real estate investor I had responsibilities that included, implementing marketing procedures, contributing to accounting by correctly documenting tracking expenses, and creating spreadsheets for documentation of relevant topics. I gained experience communicating and working with a diverse group of people in person and over the phone.

As a substitute for GCCISD, I gained experience interacting with students of all ages within the classroom setting. I had the opportunity to implement lesson plans and provide guidance for elementary, junior high, and high school students.

Obtained experience through an internship from OT Connection, a pediatric outpatient clinic for occupational, physical, and speech therapy. I had the opportunity to shadow therapists and assist in therapy as directed by professional therapists.
