Collections Assistant

Frontenac County Schools Museum

Kingston, Ontario, Canada

As the Collections Assistant, I managed a collection of over 10,000+ artifacts, including photographs, objects, and archival material. My primary duty was to accession, photograph, and catalogue artifacts using Past Perfect software. When working with collections, my priority is safe handling and storage. During my time at the Museum, I completely reorganized the collection storage to better utilize limited space and safely store artifacts. Another one of my responsibilities was to evaluate potential new acquisitions, participate in Collections Committee meetings, communicate with donors, and identify items for deaccession. In addition to working with the collection, I delivered educational programming to school groups, provided guided tours for visitors, developed and installed several exhibits, and fulfilled research requests for community members. Additionally, when the museum was between Curators, I acted as the interim office manager.
