I had been an Intern with Barton Malow Builders since May 2018 and have been employed full time for over 2 years. I completed 3 internships plus worked part-time as needed through out the school year. The projects I have been significantly involved with have been Chemical Biomedical Engineering Building (CBEB), Walker Building HVAC Renovation, and Project Wave Rider. CBEB was a ground up project, located on Penn State University Park's Campus, that I was involved with for two years - from construction to close out. The building is 193,000SF consisting of research labs, offices, computer labs, and a large lecture hall. The project naturally had a significant emphasis on HVAC and was LEED Gold. The Walker Building Renovation Phase I is complete Phase II has not started.Other projects that I have helped with include Hampden Medical Center and Lancaster Medical Center - I have helped with these projects while being off site and/or minimal visits. For Hampden, I have visited the site for BIM coordination meetings and assisting with drone flights. The Lancaster Medical Center is intended to start construction summer 2020; I helped with the preconstruction phase of this project. During my time at Penn State, I had the opportunity to study abroad in China and Hong Kong for 5 weeks. Not only did I learn about the culture, architecture, and engineering principles of some of China's most innovative projects, but I made life long friends on the trip that I might not have grown as close to if it were not for the abroad.
