I'm currently serving as a primary therapist for Birch Tree Communities, Inc. I work with members of the community who suffer from schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and/or bipolar disorder. While it has been important for me to utilize a variety of counseling methods and skills, I’ve found it even more important to remain consistently present and to be a strong advocate and voice for these members who do not always have one – relationships are not only key, but essential. Not only do I hold individual and group sessions for the members, but I also create and modify treatment plans, work closely with their care coordinators and case managers, assist with medication management (as needed), and help facilitate their daily transitions from work, home, day treatment, etc.Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked as a middle school teacher (teaching 6th grade math) for 7 years in the Benton School District. During my time as an educator, I worked with students of all abilities and from all different walks of life. I designed and implemented curriculum, strategically created and executed intervention and remediation strategies with students, and most importantly made long-lasting relationships with my students and fellow coworkers.
