Associated Transportation Engineers (A.T.E.) is a full-service traffic engineering and planning consulting firm. As a Transportation Planner I, I am responsible for contributing to projects and reports involving traffic, parking, and Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) studies and analyses. My duties include collecting project data, field surveys, completing trip generation and parking generation studies, and report writing and preparation. I utilize AutoCAD to create figures including site locations and plans for projects and reports.

As a Management Intern, I worked in a team-based setting and provide support to the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department. I contributed to ongoing community development projects by conducting research and compiling data on public documents and grants to be used in City processes and policy developments. I assisted in City agreements and participate in meetings with the Harbor Seal Advisory Committee through notetaking and by writing meeting minutes. This committee is meant to make recommendations to the City to support the local Harbor Seal population. I supported the department through administrative duties including assistance at the public counter, facilitating public outreach, data entry, and records management.

The UCSB Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO) Lab is the campus chapter of the PISCO science program. PISCO investigates research and monitoring projects related to the interactions between marine ecosystems and regional ocean processes and climate change. As a marine science intern, I contributed to these ongoing subtidal and intertidal research projects through the sorting and identification of recruitment samples with a microscope. I completed 60 hours of lab work during each of the three quarters: Fall, Winter, and Spring. As an intern, I was responsible for invertebrate identification, following lab procedures, and working with the lab manager and fellow interns.

Your Children’s Trees at UCSB is a campus organization conducting native species restoration and planting projects throughout the community. Board members and interns are dedicated to educating the public about the benefits of urban forests and the importance of planting native trees in our communities. As an intern, I worked with a Board Certified Master Arborist, board members, and other interns. I learned various techniques to plant and maintain native trees. I completed 30 hours of service through local tree planting events, assisting in our local tree nursery, and maintaining previously planted trees. I was responsible for teaching and working with 4-5 volunteers at tree planting events to ensure that our assigned tree was planted successfully.
