I was hired as a Structural Engineer and also assisted the PM with various task. - Inspect all structural work completed on-site by contractor. - Approving and managing all materials request and plans submitted by contractor. Ensuring quality and design is maintained and followed. - Managing request for additional work and design changes. Ensuring timeline is followed and all safety measures are enforced.- Managed and approved/denied all shop dwgs for structural components - Control the cost and timeline of Project to ensure quality product is delivered on time. - Handle request for inspection for work, concrete, information and approval for all structural works on-site,- Help PM conduct weekly meetings with client, owner, contractor, and design team. Produced meeting minutes and presented progress.- Coordinated with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and WELL Building Standards to ensure building obtains gold rating standard as designed. - Helped QS team with cost of variation orders and ensured owners budget is followed. I was working as a site engineer for a renovation project taking place in Bangkok Thailand. The renovation project includes a full remodel with additional structural reinforcement for an existing building to be transformed into a 5-star hotel called, The Price Akatoki. The Northcroft company is the Project Management firm in-charge of this 750Million Dollar Project.Throughout this experience I learnt the process and workings related to project management. There are various forms of procedures which must be carried out including multiple forms of inspections and budgeting amongst other services.I conducted inspections of the structural foundation of the buildings and would overlook everything from inspection of bathroom fittings to lift shafts, finishing and toppings. I also would check and approve the A3 Technical Drawings provided by the construction team and ensure the regulatory and designers standards were satisfied. I also used a lot of AutoCAD to correct and modify the existing drawings to adjust for additional reinforcements within the structural configuration. The project management team is responsible for creating a timeline and ensuring things are being followed and done in accordance with standards. The main aspect of the job is to manage all firms working on site and ensure quality. Controlling the budget is another key thing which is required by Project Management firms therefore producing Bill of Quantities is a key tender document which is often produced. Also ensuring effective communication and documenting all workings on site is another requirement. This can be seen through the meeting minutes produced and the memos sent out by the project management team. Teamwork and communication are essential in sites with multiple construction firms.
