Hello! I am Ashnil Chand and I am a recent first-generation graduate from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Economics specializing in Data Analytics and Economic Analysis. After spending time in courses such as Econometrics and Game theory, I noticed how data is important for making decisions for things like allocating money, or creating a new policy. Data gives us a way to validate what we think we know or to show us the next step.This new interest in data led me to pursue a data analytics apprenticeship at COOP, a 16 week rigorous online program where I honed my data analysis skills by learning tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, and Tableau by applying them to different projects. One of these projects was a data visualization project where I visualized NYPD crime data with my team!Eventually, I found my way to Fragomen as a Business Immigration Analyst where I put into practice some of my Excel knowledge using formulas to manage and clean data. I also learned to compile and file H-1B petitions and managed to get more than 50 cases filed!I hope to find a full-time position as a data analyst in the future, to help create a positive impact on the world, while propelling data-driven business decision making.
