CurrentSoftware Engineer Quits to Parent Underprivileged Farmers' ChildrenThe Snehwan JourneyAt the age of 26, Ashok Deshmane left a high-paying IT job to serve the social cause of sheltering children of underprivileged farmers and orphans from Maharashtra farmer suicides. He started a social project near Pune where the children have access to healthy food and quality education. What began with 18 children in 2015 is now a home for 180. Today, Ashok (31) and Archana (24) are dedicated to the cause and follow the path lightened by Swami Vivekanand and Baba Amte thru the 'Snehwan' initiative, a home where everyone stays together and eats together under one roof. Ashok's parents have also joined the couple on the journey. Projects of Snehwan:Dnyanalaya:The residential project houses and sponsors the education and nutrition of 50 children who were farm laborers and orphans of farmers who have committed suicide.Dnyan Chhatra:The initiative provides complete education to the Adivasi (tribal) female children from Thakarwadi, near Alandi.Vanchit Gram:Homeless girls that collect trash and beg on the streets of Bhosari city (suburbs of Pune) are brought into mainstream education. Mobile Health Center & Dispensary:Free health checkups and medications are provided to needy, underprivileged people on the streets through mobile health camps. Computer Education Center:Snehwan provides free technical education to 150 children. Kamdhenu Goshala:The Cow Shelter fosters and serves Desi Gir cows and calves. Library:With the intention of sustaining the reading culture, a collection of 10,000 books. India's First Container Library is in Snehwan. Skill Development Center:At the skill development center, we believe that children should get a quality education, pursue the dreams of entrepreneurship, and create work opportunities for others in society.Eco-Friendly Living: A.
