Assistant Driller
CurrentResponsible for monitoring the progress of the drilling operation, determine when drilling bits need to be changed while operating pumps, rotary table, draw-works, top drive, etc. Ensuring the drilling crew is thoroughly trained in their roles and responsibilities and that their performance consistently meets all safety regulations. Becoming familiar with the BOP system and ascertain the operating position of the BOP's when coming on shift. Adjust mud pumps to maintain the proper circulation rate.Ensure all appropriate paperwork is completed and maintained. Responsible for conducting drills in: evacuation, firefighting, spill response and other critical conditions that may arise.Organizing the rig crew in moving and setting up of the drilling rig and camp. Maintaining a close liaison and adhering to proper procedures with the Rig Manager and crew.Assist the driller in completing blowoutprevention (BOP) drills, well control sheets, pipe tallies, equipment checks (crown saver, RAM's etc.).Supervise making up the Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) and stand the drill collars back in the derrick.Documenting on an ongoing basis of all down-hole equipment used in constructing the well bore.Assists the driller with installation of the blowout preventer (BOP) on the wellhead, connecting hydraulic control lines to the BOP functions, installation of the bell nipple and flow line and coordinating pressure testing of BOP stack once it is installed.Perform routine maintenance and prepare for the next phase of the drilling program. Accessories on the rig including shale shakers, mud pumps, elevators, slips and other related equipment.Assist the Driller in completing reports such as IADC daily drilling report, pipe tally and bottom hole assembly logs, bit record, rotary drilling line cut-off record, preventive maintenance system logs / equipment reports, accident/injury investigation reports etc
