Additional aggregates including some from the Defense Platform got added to my responsibilities. There was also addition of Supervisory responsibilities in terms of Direct Reports.This role provided me an opportunity to hone my skillset to garner cooperation from other functions. I was also able to build a collaborative environment within my team.Key Deliverables - Successful Design of a compact triple cone synchronizer set which crossed the first level testing stage

Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area

I was promoted as a Lead Engineer for few programs and got the opportunity to shoulder greater responsibility and accountability. It provided me an opportunity to direct the efforts of my team members and be responsible for how they utilized their time.There was a steep learning curve in one of the AMT programs for me as well as for my team as we worked with external collaborators to integrate our transmission with an AMT Unit. There were various challenges as procedures were being defined for this new aggregate. I played a key role in bringing clarity and negotiating agreements among functions involved. I learnt to shoulder pressure of launch deadlines while negotiating resolutions for the issues that had to be resolved before launch. At the same time, I also experienced the power of collaboration when people are aligned to a common goal.Key Deliverables - Design responsible for AMT transmission program for a car platform.

Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area

This was a period of increase in scope of work to include more components of the manual transmission aggregate. I was able to gain a high level of proficiency in gear train design, synchronizer design, design of shafts, bearing selection, lubrication & gearbox layout considerations.I also started working on gearbox automation after a few years into this role. This phase basically involved understanding automation considerations and interfaces at the vehicle level including gaining a basic knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems. I had the opportunity to work on CVT & AMT technologies.On the skill set side, I got a more in-depth knowledge of Design for manufacturing, assembly & serviceability as well as Design Failure mode and Effect Analysis. Part of my responsibility also included supporting resolution of warranty issues. I was exposed to independently dealing with downstream agencies within the organization and external collaborators such as proprietary component suppliers.Key Deliverables - Design of gear pairs for a SUV transmission family, conceptualized preliminary analysis of gear train components to reduce iterations and faster time to market, non-linear tolerance stack analysis and Monte-Carlo simulations to address testing feedback on gear shift linkage performance.

Joined as a Post Graduate Trainee and was assigned to Transmission Design Department.This experience helped me learn how to work in a professional environment as part of a team. I also gained an understanding of systems and procedures that operate in an organizational context.This was a period of rapid growth on the behavioral front and also on the technical front in terms of understanding & executing the product design process.Key Deliverables - Design of Linkage for a Manual Shift Transfer case for a Pickup Truck. Support ongoing product improvements and failure analysis for SUV transmission family.
