Mohammed Ashour is the Co-Founder and Chairman of Aspire, a global technology pioneer in insect agriculture. Aspire targets markets that utilize insects for applications in nutrition and agrochemicals with a vision to alleviate global food insecurity. Mohammed has successfully raised over $120M in venture capital and private equity funding. Prior to his transition to the role of Chairman in 2023, Mohammed served as CEO of Aspire since its inception. Aspire was launched in 2013 after Mohammed led a team of five entrepreneurs to defeat over 10,000 businesses from around the world to win the prestigious US$1mm HultPrize presented by President Bill Clinton. Mohammed is widely sought-after thought leader, public speaker, and strategic advisor in the private and public sectors. He a leading voice in social entrepreneurship, climate sustainability, innovation and technology. He has been featured in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Forbes, Fox Business News, the Economist, Wired, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Fast Company.In 2023, Mohammed was named to MacLean Magazine's Power 100 List, ranked amongst the Top 10 Canadians shaping the F&B Industry. He was formerly inducted into the Forbes 30 under 30 list. Mohammed pursued a Doctor of Medicine and Master of Surgery (MD-CM) degree from McGill University. He holds M.B.A. and M.Sc. (neuroscience) degrees from McGill University and a B.Sc. degree in Life Sciences from the University of Toronto.
