As a dedicated researcher, urban planner, and critical cartographer, I am passionate about fostering inclusive urban development and creating just cities. My work centers around integrating geo-spatial artificial intelligence to develop human-centered solutions and critically evaluate the smart cities concept, AI-based approaches, and related policy frameworks for inclusive urban environments.Currently, I contribute to the Colombo Urban Lab, where I delve into the intricacies of Colombo’s urban development, analyzing the challenges faced by its residents. My role involves innovative research to understand and address urban complexities to promote sustainable and equitable growth.My expertise extends to exploring diverse spatial mapping techniques and alternative methodologies. During my tenure at the Center for Poverty Analysis (CEPA) as a Junior Researcher in Infrastructure Thematic, I experimented with novel spatial mapping techniques to effectively uncover and utilize spatial narratives.Previously, I served as an Urban Planner and Researcher in St. Louis County, Missouri, USA. There, I played a pivotal role in urban development project approvals, amending county ordinances for new land use allocations, and conducting regional research. My work in St. Louis was instrumental in shaping policy and urban planning practices to better serve the community.Beyond land-locked spatial planning, I am a passionate advocate for sustainable development and marine spatial planning, particularly for island nations. My enthusiasm extends underwater as a professional scuba diver, where I embrace and enjoy the beauty of the sea.With a robust background in urban planning, geo-spatial intelligence, and inclusive policy development, I am committed to leveraging my skills and knowledge to drive meaningful change in urban environments globally.
