About Ashley Stevens, Mpa

Ashley is a native Southern Californian and graduate from The Pennsylvania State University. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Media Studies and in 2018 obtained a Master's of Public Administration. From a young age, Ashley had an itch to become an active member of her community. Starting with her time as a Girl Scout and volunteering with the Miss San Diego Scholarship Pageant in elementary school, Ashley unknowingly planted the seeds to her growing interest in public service, learning about the importance of volunteering & giving back to the San Diego community. As a high school student, Ashley had the opportunity to begin her growing career in government, policy, and community action. She participated in a leadership program called the Commission on Science that Matters which provided students like Ashley the opportunity to travel around the United States advocating for current issues around health, energy, water conservation, and green environments. Ashley generated climate change data for the National Park Service and presented her team's research findings at a number of conferences including the 2009 Powershift Conference in Washington, D.C. Recently, Ashley has managed a number of high school leadership programs. Working with students and providing them with the support needed to learn advocacy, leadership, public speaking, and civic engagement at a young age is what inspires her the most. Ashley also worked on a number of global corporate social responsibility initiatives around veterans, internships, youth homelessness, and environmental sustainability and recently served as the Interim Program Manager for the Elementary Institute of Science. She currently works for the City of San Diego as a HR Program Manager for the Office of the City Attorney. Ashley hopes one day to broaden her career in legislation and policy. In the meantime, she enjoys working for organizations dedicated to strengthening our communities.
