My academic and professional career has been focused on politics and journalism. My freshman year I attended Emerson College in Boston and wrote several pieces for the Berkeley Beacon. After transferring to the University of Tulsa I wrote for the Collegian and wrote an award winning series on Native American health care.After getting engaged I took a break from college to help my fiancé through law school. I moved to Durham, North Carolina and worked for three years at the Carolina Lily Theater Company, a non-profit organization devoted to providing artists and students an outlet in the community.Last year I returned to school at the University of North Florida and was hired as features editor at the UNF Spinnaker. During my time there I was part of an editing team that won Spinnaker national recognition at the college media conference in Philadelphia, which I attended. I was able to interview several national newsmakers and cover political controversies on and off campus.I am currently freelancing at Eco Latino magazine. I have focused on political issues in the Latino community and the Hispanic vote. In January I will begin an internship at the Jacksonville NPR and PBS affiliate WJCT, where I will be working with the news team to develop content for daily radio shows and web articles. All of the work, including the edited videos and photos you see featured here are my original work unless otherwise specified.I’ve interviewed politicians, campaign representatives and party spokespeople. I have developed a network of contacts involved in politics both in Florida and in D.C.Since high school and throughout the past ten years I have worked on various political campaigns in Oklahoma, Massachusetts, North Carolina and Florida. This gives me a unique perspective on the way political attitudes vary across the country as a whole.
