With APCO worldwide I represent clients in global cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and digital economy policy and cybercrime treaty negotiations. I also lead for multilateral AI policy, helping our clients understand how to work with multilateral institutions as AI regulatory and policy developments proliferate. I'm also a long-term delegate to the ITU's meetings as a member of the UK government delegation where I'm the UK and often the European region's lead negotiator on economic policy issues. I came to international policy from a successful private-sector career in the entertainment and ICT sectors, starting in the music industry managing some of the world’s most successful and influential artists like the “Godfather of Soul” James Brown and multi-platinum electronic pop innovators Heaven 17.Career Highlights: ● 20+ years of multidisciplinary success in increasingly senior management in non-profit and for-profit organisations, including business operations responsibility with an annual turnover over US$60 million. ● More than 30 years negotiating with a 100% success rate whether on behalf of countries, groups of countries, Fortune 100 firms, or globally renowned musical artists.● Instrumental to the political commitment by the world’s governments on a treaty to give the visually impaired greater access to copyrighted works globally.● On behalf of the UN, proposed and then organised the world’s first meeting of developing country trade ministers on the digital economy. ● The sole private sector representative participating in the 90-country global negotiation of a digital trade agreement at the WTO.● Organised the world’s separate unions of music managers into a global federation, the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF).● Published author in globally respected publications in international policy and multilateral affairs in global cybersecurity, digital trade, telecommunications, and intellectual property.
