About C. Ashton Newhall

A third-generation American venture capitalist, Ashton started his career in financial services in the late 90’s at T. Rowe Price Associates in the Institutional Sales and Private Client Group. He then co-founded Greenspring Associates in 2000, a venture capital investment platform which grew to over $17 billion in AUM and merged into StepStone Group (NASDAQ: STEP) in July 2021. Ashton served as a Partner and senior leader on the Venture and Growth team at StepStone from September 2021 through September 2024. He now serves as a Senior Advisor to Stepstone and also as Managing Director of Brightside Valley LLC, the Newhall Family Office, and leads the family’s private market investment activities including Primary, Secondary and Direct investments across Venture, Private Equity, Private Credit, Private Real Estate and Real Asset Infrastructure.
