I am an experienced animal industry professional knowledgeable and experienced in veterinary medicine, behavior and training, welfare, and handling and safety in both domestic small mammals and exotics. I have strong supervisory, written, and interpersonal skills, with experience in management and administration.I currently run my own dog training and behavior business, Kudos Canine, which I founded in March 2021. Previous to this I have worked in dog training independently and as an independent contractor for other dog businesses for the past 7 years. I strive to constantly learn and grow in this field. I have a passion for animal behavior and training, as well as enrichment and welfare. I worked as a veterinary Technician from 2007 to 2021. Originally from Columbia, SC, I spent three years working at an internal medicine specialty practice in Columbia, before relocating to Austin, TX. I started her VCA career at VCA Capital Area Specialists as an internal medicine technician in February, 2017, and was promoted within a year to Team Lead. Prior to this, along with previous internal medicine work, I have also worked in veterinary general practice, working with small animals as well as exotics and wildlife. I have extensive experience in advanced veterinary care and procedures, such as endoscopy, CT, interventional radiology, and care of critical patients.I also have experience in the animal shelter and rescue field. I acted as Adoptions Manager for several years at Pets Inc., in Columbia, SC before transferring over to the medical departments, were I became the Shelter Resident Medical Supervisor and worked as a the Low Cost Clinic Lead in partnership with the DVMs on staff. In this field, I most recently held the position of Animal Medical Supervisor in another large non profit shelter in Columbia, SC, Pawmetto Lifeline.I compete with my personal dogs in several canine sports, and believe continued R+ and force free conditioning and rehab are of very high importance. I attend many seminars and classes on canine training and human/canine relationships. I also run a small Etsy store in my free time.
